More Stringent Aerodynamics Rules for MotoGP Super bike designs for upcoming season.
Aerodynamics rules for the 2017 MotoGP season will have some changes. Furthermore, a proposal from Dorna’s technical team on banning the aerodynamic devices was accepted during the meeting of the Grand Prix Commission at Misano. In addition, this basically means that winglets, wings, bulges and anything protruding from the front of the fairing is now not allowed in the race. Thus, the main objectives was to keep the wording as general as possible to avoid exploitation from engineers.
In addition, a Statement from MotoGP on the ban for Aerodynamics accessories mentioned:
“The Commission unanimously agreed that, with effect from the 2017, the use of aerodynamic wings in the MotoGP class will be banned.
The actual regulation will replicate those for the Moto3 and Moto2 classes where the use of wings is already prohibited.
Wings that comply with current technical regulations may continue to be used for the remainder of the 2016 season.”
While this news are quite exciting, lets wait and see till 2017 comes and changes take place. Its a rather interesting year that we will have ahead in 2017.
