The Dan Gurney Alligator Breaks the Mould of Conventional Motorcycle Design
The Alligator Motorycle is the creation of Dan Gurney. A man that is notorious in the world or motorsports, he is also known for his wild creations like the delta wing racer.
The Alligator project is the brainchild of Dan Gurney that took well over 10 years to complete. There are several production units of the Alligator Motorcycle being on roads around the world until this day.
What makes this motorcycle very unique is the low slung position that the rider sits in. One of the reasons that Dan Gurney names this motorcycle the “Alligator” it its low and long stance. Dan Gurney’s deep racing experience helped him focus on key points to make the Alligator a great handling motorcycle mainly due to the extremely low centre of gravity and weight distribution. In fact, the centre of gravity is so low that seat height is only 18 inches!.
The increased handling capabilities of the low slung Alligator motorcycle are due to the extensive use of carbon fibre for body panels, and the use of a chromoly frame, and magnesium wheels.
