Jorge Lorenzo had to jump off the bike at 180 km/h!
Almost three weeks after Jorge Lorenzo brake failure at the first round of the 2018 MotoGP season, in Qatar, and after Ducati Corse said that they couldn’t understand what happened that led the Spanish rider to fall and abandon the race, Brembo has issued a statement where it takes the blame for what happened.
During the Qatar race, Lorenzo had to jump off the Desmosedici GP18 at about 180 km/h to avoid a direct impact against a protection wall.
After investigation, Brembo has now issued a statement about why the front brakes of Lorenzo’s bike have failed, and they even go further saying that the problem won’t happen again
“In relation to what happened to Jorge Lorenzo and the Ducati Team in Qatar, Brembo is disappointed for the withdrawal of the rider at lap 12, due to a failure with the braking system. After an analysis from our technicians, we can confirm that the failure has been identified and we’ve taken measures to assure it won’t happen again”.
This short statement is the way that Brembo found to take the blame for what happened to Lorenzo, and although Brembo doesn’t say what happened, Davide Tardozzi, Ducati team manager, has said that the team will continue to trust Brembo the same way they’ve been doing for years.

Jorge Lorenzo, that will be competing at the second round of the season this weekend in Argentina, already reacted to Brembo’s statement, but prefers to look forward and don’t look at the past
“I know there’s a statement”, says Lorenzo. “But I won’t look much at it because it won’t change what happened. It was pure bad luck, that happened to me, and won’t happen again, so I need to look forward, I’m only thinking about this race and going fast here”.
