2018 Honda Gold Wing’s upgrades takes everything up a notch

The 2018 Honda Gold Wing is certainly taking the brand up a notch with the upgrades including the newest edition of Honda’s sofa on wheels and heated seat alongside the extended power windshield- sounds like a perfect bike to tackle to gloomy and rainy days.

The bike features a 1,833cc flat-six engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Its predecessor Honda GL1000 came with a 999cc flat-four mated to a five-speed transmission mounted on a steel frame. Honda took on the GL1000 and transformed it with its first Gold Wings to cater the needs of beginner riders.

The later models rolled out had bigger engines, electronic ignition, longer wheelbases and larger room for drivers and passengers, bigger gas tanks, an audio system, factory-installed fairings and luggage bags.

Despite the huge engine, the 2018 model does not emit loud noise or shaking. The four drive modes on the bike are derived from Honda cars and trucks, including the tour mode and rain mode. The latter would help riders switch the sensitivity on the ABS and the throttle.

The new Gold Wing is 85 pounds lighter than the previous ones and also has new streamlined fairings.

  • the standard seat on the new automatic 2018 model is hard and awful for any long distance ride for the pillion rider. I have tried airhawk, gel pads but after a couple of hours it is a disaster. Bring back the old seat which is so much more comfortable
