MotoGP – Troy Corser says Marquez should be penalized

The crash that Jorge Lorenzo suffered in the first corner of the Aragon GP last weekend, is still making the headlines today, with former World Superbike champion Troy Corser having a dig at what Race Direction did, or in this case, didn’t do.

Using his Twitter account, Corser, a double WSBK champion with Ducati and Suzuki, wrote that “Marc exceeded track limits to lead into the first corner, running Lorenzo off line, a bit like jumping the start, should be penalized”, said the Aussie rider.

Troy Corser believes that Race Direction didn’t act on Marc Marquez as they should have, and his Twitter comment was promptly followed by Jorge Lorenzo’s answer

“Correct. He had to go over the track limits because e braked to late and had no angle to make the turn (even for Marc Marquez). To do that corner with that angle, on a normal braking action, he had to brake much sooner and maintain the brakes right until the apex”, said the Ducati rider, who also thanked Troy Corser for giving his view on the crash.

Seeing that his riding on the first moments of the race might have caused Lorenzo’s crash, resulting in injuries, Marc Marquez already phoned Lorenzo to know how his compatriot is, following the foot injuries, and also left a public message on his social network accounts to lift the mood of Jorge Lorenzo.

Will this be the end of this story? Will need to wait for the next race in Buriram, Thailand.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
