Ural Air combines modern technology and old school with built-in drone

Russian motorcycle company Ural has served us with a lot of unique designs of its simple sidecar motorcycles that bear the resemblance of ancient BMW models since before the second World War. Ural dons the vintage and old-school retro vibe despite the new updates like fuel injection and disc brakes. However, this time, the firm may be taking it up a notch by launching a drone from a compartment in the nose of the sidecar.

Ural is launching its special edition rig  The Air  and it is the epitome of the best of both worlds as it combines 21st century technologies with the classic and conventional elements.

“What’s over the ridge? What’s just beyond your campsite? What obstacles lie ahead after a big storm? When the trail ends or nightfall is looming, the rider or passenger becomes a pilot, sending out their eye in the sky to determine the best route or quickest escape,” said Ural of the drone.

It also comes with a USB charging port. At the push of a button, the hatch opens and it releases the DJI Spark drone. The controller is hard-mounted to the sidecar, which allows the passenger to become the pilot.

The impressive Ural Air is limited to 40 units worldwide, at a price of $18,000 (RM74882.70).
