Peter Hickman has delivered impressive results in the race weekend in Macau, China on his new BMW S 1000 RR. The 53rd Macau Grand Prix was held at the ‘Guia Circuit’. The event was red-flagged twice before being shortened. Despite that, Hickman secured second place in the final result whereas victory was claimed by MGM by Bathams teammate Michael Rutter.
Hickman won the iconic Macau Grand Prix three times in 2015, 2016 and 2018. This year, he was aiming for another victory but due to the second red flag, he was unable to do so. However, he managed to set the fastest time in practice. He also secured pole position and did well in the warm-up session.
Hickman and Rutters were battling out at the start before the first red flag, causing a re-start. Several crashed caused the second red flag to go up.
Rutter got away best at the re-start and took the lead ahead of Hickman. Hickman hit back on the second lap after the re-start, passing Rutter to regain the lead. Shortly after that, however, a crash involving several riders caused the race to be red-flagged for the second time.

The rules here state that after a second red flag they declare a result regardless of how many laps have been completed and Michael led the opening lap, so he gets the win. Obviously right now all thoughts are with the riders involved in today’s incidents” says Hickman as quoted from BMW.
