Quartararo Fastest On Day Two In Qatar

PETRONAS Yamaha SRT’s Fabio Quartararo ended day two of testing as the fastest rider at Losail International Circuit, with Franco Morbidelli fourth. Will he keep it up today on Day 3?

As of the second day of testing in Qatar, Fabio Quartararo sets the fastest lap of the day around the 5.4km long Losail International Circuit. On the other hand, Franco Morbidelli finished the day by setting the fourth-fastest time.

After being the first rider out onto the circuit this morning, Fabio tired different setups of his Yamaha YZR-M1 to find the best setup. He was also able to test various aerodynamic components for the front of his bike. Towards the end of the session, Fabio focused on some time-attack laps. From his 65 laps, the best time was 1min 54.038secs. This placed him at the top of the timesheets.

Team-mate Morbidelli also tried different setup changes to find the optimum balance of his YZR-M1. The afternoon saw his lap times decrease on each run, achieving a great race and positive time-attack laps. He completed 70 laps of Losail International Circuit, the most of any rider. The fastest times he set was 1min 54.481secs  placing him fourth at the end of day two.
