Genting Highlands Bans Motorcycle and Car Convoys

According to the recent video that surfaced on Facebook, the management of Genting is apparently banning motorcycle and car convoys going up to Genting highlands. Are convoys banned permanently?

Genting Highlands

You might have already come across this video that has been circulating since Sunday. In case you are new, let’s do a quick run on this latest buzz. The video that has been circulating on Facebook and WhatsApp featured an auxiliary policeman stating the management of Genting Highlands had decided to ban motorcycle and car convoys going up to Genting Highlands. Also, for now, there is no information on the end of this “ban”, so could it be a permanent thing?

The Video:

The reason? The policeman in the video says it’s because Genting Management has had enough with the disruptive behaviour of these groups and they are putting their foot down this time. Aside from this, the biggest cause of this sudden ban is the noise pollution caused by the exhausts of bikes and cars in groups racing up the hill. Apparently this causes nuisance to the hotel guests especially those who visit the place for a getaway and also those who have shops along the way. However, no official statement on this issue has been announced yet.

Can the Genting Management actually do this? Yes, they can because the road is a private property owned by the Genting group.

According to sources, the ban applies to Karak highway exit up to Ghotong Jaya and Batang Kali entry point but this is not confirmed yet. However, if you are going up to Genting alone it wouldn’t be an issue as it cannot be considered as a “convoy”. We are trying to get in touch with Management of Genting Highlands to find out more information on this latest buzz, so be on a lookout!

Meanwhile, feel free to tell us what you think of this! Went on a convoy and you were told to turn back? Let us know!
