Italian top gun BMW has updated its R 1250 R naked roadster to make travelling alone or as a couple even more pleasant, safe, fun and comfortable. All of this can be done while maintaining the continuity of the same model. The model gets a new look and brings some new features without revolutionizing its nature.

The Euro 5-compliant 1,254 cc boxer remains in place. It boasts 136 HP of maximum power at 7,250 rpm and 143 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. It comes with a new engine mapping that allows the rider to travel as efficiently as possible with the “Eco” mode as standard. The R 1250 R also has dynamic traction control (DTC) in place.

The “Pro” riding modes with riding mode preselection and engine drag torque control are optional equipment. This also applies to other individually configurable riding modes. The R 1250 R in its latest edition features the BMW Integral ABS Pro as standard.

It also comes with dynamic brake control (DBC), which supports the rider in emergency braking manoeuvres. This increases safety even in difficult situations by avoiding involuntary activation of the accelerator.

By intervening with the engine control, the driving torque decreases during braking in order to fully exploit the braking power of the rear wheel. This way, the motorcycle is stable as the braking distance decreases.

As for its design, the new R 1250 R stands out for its new full LED headlight with adaptive cornering light as an option. It is combined with new-concept LED direction indicators. The rest of the bike remains the “classic” naked of the German manufacturer, with a muscular roadster look and rounded lines interrupted by well-defined elements.

BMW has paired the aggressive look with practical elements. This includes the introduction of a second USB-A socket with a 5-volt power supply for recharging the smartphone while driving. It also now has heated grips and saddles, and the rider’s seat has five heating levels to provide extra comfort.

The bike is available in three colours, namely a non-metallic Ice Grey with the standard black frame, Triple Black and Style Sport (blue with touches of white and red in full BMW style).

The R 1250 R comes with a base price of 16,480 euros on a turnkey basis. The price rises to 16,980 euros for the Style Sport and 17,180 euros for the Triple Black.
