The Hamamatsu factory finally kickstarted the E-Burgman electric scooter project by running several test sessions running from April up till June.

According to Suzuki, the test of the electric scooter will start at Suzuki World Setagaya Minami. It will include Meguro, Shinagawa, Ota and Minato areas in Jonan district, Tokyo.

From the test, Suzuki will collect important data to help in the development of the next electric scooter. The company will use the data not only for private but also for commercial purposes.

The road test will involve eight Suzuki E-Burgman units in total.

Interestingly, the E-Burgman will use an exchangeable battery pack developed by Honda. This is in line with the exchangeable battery consortium movement by Honda and Yamaha.

Suzuki will also take advantage of the Gachaco charging station. Gachaco is a company established by Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha with the aim of making it easier for motorcycle and electric scooter users to charge and change batteries easily.

For the record, the Suzuki E-Burgman can travel as far as 44 kilometres per full charge. This makes it a suitable means of transport, especially in urban areas. In addition, with only 5.4hp and 18Nm, the electric scooter is also a safe mode of transportation for all ages.

Apart from Japan, the E-Burgman scooter will also be available in India and some European markets later on.
