KTM seems to have plans to become the largest shareholder in the MV Agusta company. A recent interview involving Hubert Trunkenpolz gave some insight into the matter.

Trunkenpolz is a Member of the Executive Board of Pierer Mobility Group (PMG). He has confirmed that PMG is the largest shareholder of the Italian motorcycle manufacturer. According to reports, PMG will maintain MV Agusta operations in Schiranna, Italy.

PMG last year bought a 25.1 per cent stake in MV Agusta. This raised concerns in Italy about the future of MV Agusta which may suffer the same fate as Husqvarna.

Trunkenpolz in the DueRuote report insists that ‘will never happen’. According to him, PMG will not lay off employees and move operations but will increase the existing MV Agusta production line.

Over the past year, MV Agusta only produced 1,000 units of motorcycles. He further stated that the MV Agusta production plant should produce 12,000 units of motorcycles a year. The manufacturer will be responsible for the production of high-end and premium motorcycles.

To bring about change at MV Agusta, PMG needs at least 50.1 per cent ownership. According to Trunkenpolz, PMG’s stake will be increased in the future.
