The latest Yamaha NMAX ABS is now available in Dark Blue for the Japanese market.

The Dark Blue option is in addition to the two existing colours Matte Dark Green (dark green) and Matte Dark Gray (dark grey). In Malaysia, in addition to blue, the Yamaha NMAX is also available in red.

The Yamaha NMAX is a good maxi scooter with a refreshing exterior. It dons a nice dim colour with noticeable front and rear disc brakes. The size of the bike is decent and the price is reasonable. Though there is no Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) for the local market.

The Malaysian version of the Yamaha NMAX features a 155cc engine. On the other hand, the Yamaha NMAX ABS in the Japanese market houses a single-cylinder 4-stroke 4-valve 124cc SOHC liquid-cooled engine. It is capable of generating a power output of 10hp (12ps) @ 8,000rpm and 11Nm torque @ 6,000rpm.

For comparison, the Japanese version of the Yamaha NMAX 155 engine produces 13hp (15ps) @ 8,000rpm and 14Nm @ 6,500rpm torque.

Just like the 155cc, the 125cc engine on the Yamaha NMAX ABS comes with Blue Core technology and the Smart Motor Generation (SMG) system that allows the engine to be turned off and restarted silently.

The petrol tank capacity of both models is the same, which is 7.1 litres. Despite the different engine displacements, both Yamaha NMAX 125 and 155 have the same weight of 131kg.

However, the Yamaha NMAX ABS does not have the Y-Connect feature like the Yamaha NMAX 155. There is indeed a specification change for the 2023 model. Yamaha has maintained the Traction Control System (TCS) and the Idle Stop System (ISS) for the model.

This maxi scooter is available at a price of 379,500 yen (RM12,040), more expensive than the 2021 model which costs 368,500 yen (RM14,020). The difference also shows the currency exchange rate in May 2021 and July 2023.

Yamaha NMAX 155 (2023) local market without ABS and Y-Connect comes with a price tag of RM9,798.
