Ducati recently unveiled the 2024 DesertX Rally, an upgraded version of the DesertX designed for tough off-road adventures.
This rally bike isn’t just about its striking looks and high front fender. Ducati tested it at the Erzbergrodeo, where five-time enduro world champion Antoine Méo triumphed in the twin-cylinder class, proving its prowess.
What makes it stand out? The DesertX Rally has 20 mm more suspension travel, reaching 250 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear. It excels in rough terrains.
The front end features new billet aluminum triples holding closed cartridge KYB forks. These forks have Kashima coating on top and DLC coating on the bottom for improved performance. Plus, there’s an Öhlins steering damper for better control on tough terrain.
Like the standard DesertX, the DesertX Rally has an aluminum swingarm, but it’s placed differently. The fully adjustable KYB shock has a larger piston than the base model, making it even better for off-roading. With these suspension changes, the DesertX Rally boasts an impressive 280 mm of ground clearance.
For wheels, it keeps the 21″ front and 18″ rear setup but enhances it with billet aluminum hubs, Excel rims, and Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires. The rear wheel is now half an inch slimmer, ensuring top-notch performance in challenging conditions.
Visually, the DesertX Rally stands out with its striking red livery, an enduro-style seat, and a tough carbon fiber sump guard. It offers adjustable CNC-machined brake and gear levers for personalized riding.
Under the hood, it shares its 937 cc twin-cylinder Testastretta engine with the DesertX, delivering 110 hp at 9,250 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. This powerplant fits into a strong tubular steel trellis frame, and the bike carries 21 liters (5.5 gallons) of fuel.
The bike features LED lights, a 5″ TFT dashboard, and a full suite of electronic rider aids and riding modes, including a quick-shifter, ensuring a modern and connected riding experience.
For those seeking more adventure, optional add-ons are available, from a small extra fuel tank to aluminum luggage, LED lights, heated grips, and more.
Ducati offers two Termignoni exhaust options: one for racing and one for the road, letting riders customize their bike’s performance.

The highly awaited Ducati DesertX Rally arrives at dealerships in January 2024, with pricing yet to be revealed.
