Ellaspede Custom Bikes Flip a Standard Suzuki DRZ400E Dirt Bike to a Scrambler Piece of Art
The build of the custom 2009 Suzuki DRZ400E to being a “one of” named “EB588” started off when Leo, the co-owner of Ellaspede set to find a bike that is light to maneuver on city roads, and also has a nice customisation potential. The customisation project took a little longer than planned because it was more of a side project for the co-owner of Ellaspede.
The custom Suzuki, now known as the EB588 has been transformed with the high level approach that Ellaspede uses for its bike builds. The process is as follows: source inspiration, sketch, concept, tear down, build, test and ride
The Husqvarna 701 was an inspirational source for the design of the EB588, in addition to the late 70’s flat track bikes. As for the buildout for the bike, several aspects changed from the initial plan. This happened because the bike now uses a vintage suzuki fuel tank from ebay versus using an in house sketched fuel tank. Due to the different fuel tank, the colour scheme of the EB588, the tail design evolved to have better alignment with the new tank. The yoshimura exhausts were main influencers on the overall design of the dirt bike.
Leo is a short individual, thus when the EB588 was being built, the Suzuki DRZ400E ride height is lower by a whopping 10cm. The lower ride height was changed by using custom suspension, and by using a custom lower rear tail.
The end result of the Suzuki DRZ400E’s transformation to becoming the Ellaspede EB588 is a retro looking scrambler bike with modern internals to give it ultimate character while being ridden on road and off road.
