Kawasaki Motors Malaysia (KMM) has officially announced the cessation of all operations in distributing Kawaski brand motorcycles in Malaysia starting October 1, 2021. The manufacturer’s decision is due to Kawasaki Heavy’s Industry’s (KHI) decision to increase its equity participation.

The news comes after speculations of Modenas cooking up a big plan directly with Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) behind the scene, which appears to be true.

The weighty decision had to be taken after evaluating several new developments from Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. Japan (KHI), including the investment policy in Malaysia as well as equity participation in MODENAS on 26 April 2019.

KMM has now be renamed to KMSB Motors and will be tackling new business areas from now on.

“We at KMSB would like to thank you for this opportunity and to all, especially our partners for 33 years in Malaysia,” KMSB said in a statement.

At the same time, KMSB also thanked KHI for the opportunity to represent the brand.

Meanwhile, KMSB also informed current owners to anticipate further announcements from KHI for matters relating to warranty, after-sales service and spare parts.
