Piaggio Group has opened a new Indonesian production and assembly plant in an effort to strengthen its brand in the Asian market.
This new factory is on a 55,000-square-meter site in the Cikarang district, West Java.
The inauguration of the Jakarta factory is the Italian motor group’s eighth one globally. The brand has plants in other big markets such as Italy, India, the United States, Vietnam and China.
This indirectly makes the Asian market the most important one for the Italian motorcycle brand.
“This new factory in Indonesia brings the Piaggio Group one step forward in the international strategic development program which has taken place for the past 10 years.
“Piaggio Group recorded a sales increase of more than 61 per cent in Indonesia in 2021. We expect that figure to continue to increase in the future,” says CEO and Chairman, Roberto Colannino.
