Malaysia launches first ever emergency motorcycle response unit in Penang

Malaysia has launched its first ever motorcycle-driven emergency response unit in Penang in order to provide much more efficiency when dealing with road users in cases of accidents or breakdowns.

The response team is called the George Town Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and was officially established on November 19 2015 and was recently approved by the Registrar of Society (ROS). It consists mostly of volunteers.

“They sacrifice their time and effort to give back to society. We should applaud their efforts,” said Lee as quoted from The Sun.

There are currently more than 30 members and approximately 10 of them are qualified first aid responders.

“We are the first established and certified team to be formed here in Penang.”

“We are also planning to expand it throughout the country,” he added.
