MotoGP – Jorge Lorenzo answers to Claudio Domenicali

A few days ago Claudio Domenicali, Ducati CEO, spoke about Jorge Lorenzo’s future with the Italian team and defined the Spanish as a “great rider”. Today, Lorenzo took the chance to speak with the media present at the Mugello circuit to answer back at Domenicali and speak about his future.

Not only Jorge Lorenzo confirmed that he will be racing the next two years, instead of retiring from racing for a year as some speculated, but the Spanish rider also said that he will do it riding a competitive machine.

Although Lorenzo didn’t say for who he will be racing, from his words many are now thinking that the three-times MotoGP champion will be racing on a factory machine.

But apart from talking about his future, Jorge Lorenzo spoke about the past.

Claudio Domenicali said that Jorge Lorenzo “is a great rider but he wasn’t able to get the best from our bike”, and with these words the Ducati CEO seemed to confirm that Lorenzo wasn’t continue with the Italian team from 2019 onwards.

Now, Lorenzo answered back at Domenicali, and the Spanish rider made sure to tell how he feels, and when a journalist asked him if he was surprised by Domenicali words, Lorenzo said this

“He is the leader and he has his opinions, and I need to respect them. But I tell him this: I’m not a great rider, I am a champion!”.

This weekend at Mugello the MotoGP season continues with what is expected to be another great race. Jorge Lorenzo likes the track and the Ducati Desmosedici usually performs well there, so the Spanish rider has the chance to get the first win since joining the team in 2017.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
