MotoGP – Lorenzo’s manager has spoken with Aprilia

Jorge Lorenzo’s future is still a mystery: Suzuki or Aprilia? One of these teams will sign the five-time world champion

The transfer window for riders to negotiate new contracts is entering a crucial stage, and although we already know where many of the factory riders are going to be next season, there’s still some doubts about some others.

And one of the main riders that hasn’t got a new contract signed yet is Jorge Lorenzo.

During the past few weeks we told you that Lorenzo could be on the verge of signing a deal with Ecstar Suzuki team, and that was a real, strong possibility for the five-time world champion. At least until Le Mans…

Suzuki management, and also Honda Racing Corporation, are now looking to secure a deal with Moto2 rookie and Moto3 champion Joan Mir. The Spanish rider is a talent on the rising, and at Le Mans he managed to step up on the Moto2 podium for the very first time.

Mir is being tempted by a factory seat either on the Suzuki team or on the Repsol Honda team, where he could ride alongside Marc Marquez.

So, Jorge Lorenzo needs to find an alternative in case the negotiations with Suzuki fall through, and it seems that Lorenzo’s manager already found a way out for the current Ducati rider: Aprilia Gresini.

According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, there was a meeting in Noale between the managers of Aprilia Racing and the manager of Jorge Lorenzo, where the rider representative had the chance to know what are the plans of Aprilia for MotoGP.

This way, Aprilia, with which Jorge Lorenzo won two 250 titles in 2006 and 2007, might be the answer to Lorenzo’s future.

During the next MotoGP round in Mugello or at best at Montmeló, the future of Jorge Lorenzo should be known.
