Bonhams will auction two special bikes from the Den Hartogh Collection

It’s not every day that we are able to buy a World War II motorcycle, but fortunately for those of us that want to collect these motorcycles that have made history, there are still some examples available to buy.

Famed auctioneer Bonhams will have two of such of those WWII bikes on auction in the end of the month.

These particular units are part of the Den Hartogh Collection, and we’re talking about a 1943 Harley-Davidson 750cc WLA and 1947 Moto Guzzi 498cc Super Alce Military, to be sold without reserve price and in their current condition. And that means whoever wins the auction, will also get a lot of rust, as well as the bikes.

According to the press release by Bonhams, Harley-Davidson produced some 90.000 750cc WLA according to the US Military specifications, but most of them that survived the war, ended up in the Soviet Union as part of a deal.

As for the Moto Guzzi 498cc Super Alce Military, it is believed that only 35 examples of this particular model survived to the war, which makes this auction even more special to collectors.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
