Even if the recession hit the motorcycle industry hard in a global way, the fact is that Japanese brand Suzuki suffered the most, and that’s the reason why Suzuki had to try and basically survive through the recession. That’s why we didn’t see the Hamamatsu brand releasing so many new models as we wished.
But that’s been changing for a while now, and since 2017, with the release of the latest generation of the GSX-R1000, Suzuki has been showing what they can do and the company continues to move forward into the future with new concepts, like the turbocharged Recursion concept that will soon be shown as a production model.
Now, completing the change in company financial situation, Suzuki announced a brande new factory in Miyakoda, a district of Hamamatsu, Japan.
This brand-new facility will replace an engineering and development facility in Ryuyo, an engine production plant in Takatsuka, and a motorcycle assembly line in Toyokawa.
This is welcomed news for us, and especially for Suzuki fans.
During the worst part of the recession there were rumours that pointed to the fact that Suzuki would cease their motorcycle business in order to survive, and this just proves the Japanese brand is here to stay, and stronger than ever. With this new factory, the company will be able to save money by manufacturing their motorcycles in just one place, and in turn, will be able to invest in the development of new models.
