Triumph has been keen on selling the idea that their brand new and upcoming top-spec model Scrambler 1200 will be their biggest novelty for next year, and the many teaser videos that the British manufacturer has published in the last weeks are proof that the Scrambler 1200 is indeed a very important model for Triumph.
But the British brand isn’t going to bet solely on the arrival of that bike, and during the INTERMOT Cologne, they’ve shown the new Street’s, with the parallel twin engine getting a big power boost for 2019.
Both the Street Twin, the road focused version, and the Street Scrambler, off road focused version, will receive an updated engine with 10 extra horsepower compared to the current generation. That means both bikes will reach the peak power of 64 hp, and the engine internals have been revised with new lightweight crankshaft and balance shafts as well as a lighter clutch. The block also gets a little attention from Triumph, and the engine covers are now made in magnesium.
Chassis will remain mostly unchanged in terms of frame, but the Nissin brake calipers have been swapped for 4-piston Brembos, while the two Streets also get a high-spec cartridge front fork and a slightly reorganized riding ergonomics meant to improve comfort.
Both models remain basically the same as we know them, but Triumph decided to change the classic brand logo for the more modern version, and the instrument panel is completely new. Also new are the two standard riding modes, Road and Rain, and the electronics package also contain ABS and traction control, while the clutch will feel light all the time due to the torque assist function.
For better managing the tyre pressure, Triumph will now offer, as an optional, a tyre pressure management system, but only on the Street Twin.
If you’re expecting for the bigger and more powerful Scrambler 1200, well, you’ll need to wait a few weeks because Triumph will show that bike at the end of October.
