History has been made today at the World SuperSport300 championship, with Spanish female rider Ana Carrasco (DS Junior Team Kawasaki) becoming the first ever female rider to win the world title on a road racing motorcycle championship!
Ana Carrasco already has a few milestones in her short career, like being the first woman to score points at the World Moto3 championship and also the first one to get points at the CEV Moto2 class. Then, she decided to move to the World SuperSport300 championship, and riding a Kawasaki she kept climbing the ladder until finally becoming world champion today, at Magny Cours, France.
In this last race of the season, she didn’t start well, qualifying in 25th, but in the race Ana kept pushing to reach the much needed points to secure the title. She finished 13th, while her rivals, teammate Scott Derue retired with technical issues on lap 6, but Mika Perez was almost the new SuperSport300 champion by clinging onto second spot on the last lap, but at the last moment he was demoted to third, which gave Ana Carrasco the historic champion title by a single point!
