Dorna wants to take the MotoGP show to more countries, and after the announcement that Indonesia would be hosting a World Championship round in 2021, the first street circuit ever in MotoGP, now it’s the Finish circuit Kymiring to confirm that MotoGP test teams will be able to try out the new track in Finland.

Kymiring will receive the visit of all the test teams and test riders of all manufacturers currently involved in MotoGP, with the goal being to try the asphalt and all the safety features that the new circuit has installed in order to be eligible to host a MotoGP race.

August 19th and 20th are the days that the MotoGP prototypes will touch the Kymiring asphalt for the first time, and if everything goes well, Dorna will include Finland as one of the nations that the World Championship visits every year, starting in 2020.

The current deal that Dorna has with MotoGP teams says that the season can only have a maximum of 20 races, and this season the calendar has a total of 19 races. So, adding Kymiring to the calendar means we will hit the maximum number of races allowed, and that also means that in 2021, when Indonesia joins the “party”, one of the current tracks will need to exit the MotoGP calendar.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
