The decade is coming to an end and although we are far behind what Back to the Future perceive modern-day technology would be like, we are not that far off. We don’t really have remote-control litter bins or dog walkers with such mechanisms but the idea of flying vehicles was definitely not far-fetched! With the growing pace of technology, it makes almost anything impossible. French manufacturer Lazareth has taken regular motorcycles up a notch by introducing this impressive flying motorcycle- the LMV 496, or La Moto Volante.
The electric bike‘s feather-light body fits true to its description as it is so light that it could fly. It features an aluminium chassis and a body made of carbon fibre. Powering the LMV 497 is a lithium battery that produces a range of approximately 100km. With the electric motors located in the wheels, it can reach 130km/h on the road. It has six turbines and fuel tanks under the Italian V8 air. Riders are able to start their journey and move on air for about ten minutes.
The LMV 496 utilises a 96,000-rpm JetCat jet turbine in each wheel hub. This enables the wheels to transform from their upright stance to a horizontal manner to allow the bike to essentially ‘levitate’. The jets would need about a minute to heat up before launch. The bike is then able to be off the ground for a few feet.
The LMW 496 is speculated to carry a price tag of a staggering $560, 000. Stay tuned for more updates.
