As we all know, Harley Davidson has been tweaking its market strategy since the past few years. A part of this is the “Harley’s More Roads to Harley-Davidson” growth strategy announced in 2017. This is the reason why Harley has been coming up with a different line of bikes. This time around they are expanding into Asian countries with a well-thought product, the 338cc Harley Davidson.

The Chinese motorcycle giant Qianjiang (Owner of Benelli) and Harley Davidson partnered earlier in 2019. The aim was to create a small-sized Harley Davidson motorcycle specifically for the Asian market. The details about the development of the new 338cc Harley Davidson leaked out recently. One that confirms the development of bike is the leak from Benelli’s 2020 production plan. In the plan, it can be seen the “HD338” is planned to go into production around June 2020.

According to the rumours, this 338cc Harley Davidson is based on the Benelli 302s. Which means the HD338 would most likely to be powered by a 300cc parallel-twin engine. The engine produces 38bhp at 11,500 rpm and peak torque of 26.5Nm at 10,000 rpm. However, Harley would be providing the suspension, bodywork and most likely some engine upgrades or tune.
The purpose of Harley launching this bike is to expand its sales into the Asian market. In the case of Asia, small-displacement motorcycles are more popular all around the region. Countries such as China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, India and Australia are expected to get this bike later in 2020 after its debut in China.
We hope the bike does come out according to the leaks. If it does get launched, this baby Harley would instantly become a massive success among new riders and youths. Harley would definitely see more roads around the Asian region!
