Husqvarna 901 Svartpilen Spy Shot
The Norden 901 concept was unveiled at 2019 ECIMA last year, from this we got some hints on the brand’s plan on adding in a larger engine. Eventually, months later rumours on the 901 models started spreading like wildfire. According to sources, in addition to the current 401 and 701 Husqvarna bikes, the 901 adds in two new bikes; 901 Norden and 901 Svartpilen.
Husqvarna Norden 901 Concept
We all had an idea about the Husqvarna Norden 901 thanks to the concept from last year. However, recently, RideApart spotted the 2nd bike- the naked 901 Svartpilen and here is everything we know!
The spy shots and rumours reveal that the 901 Svartpilen features a parallel-twin engine borrowed from the parent company, KTM. Where, reports suggest that the 901 sources its engine from the recently announced KTM 890 Duke R.
KTM claims the 890 Duke R engine pushes out 121hp at 9,250 RPM and 99Nm (or 73 ft-lbs) of torque at 7,750 RPM. However, given the 701’s puts out around 75 horsepower and 72Nm of torque; we can expect the Husqvarna 901 Svartpilen to push similar power figures to the Duke 890 R. All other Husqvarna bikes come with a single-cylinder engine, however, it’s pretty interesting to see Husqvarna jumping into parallel-twin engines.
In the case of the bodywork, there is nothing much to tell; because the test mules are stripped out in the spy shots. However, the 901 would most likely feature spoke wheels just like the 401 and 701. Aside from this, the bike features a trellis frame and swingarm which looks similar to the one fitted on the 890 Duke R too.
In the case of the suspension, it looks like the 901 features WP upside-down fork at the front and mono-shock at the back. Looking at the spy shots, the brakes look similar to the ones from the Duke 890R too; a four-piston radially mounted calliper at the front and Brembo single-piston floating calliper at the back.
According to sources, the Husqvarna Norden 901 adventurer is going into production next year. So we assume the naked Husqvarna 901 Svartpilen would most likely go for production around the same time too. If that’s the case, we would most likely see the Husqvarna 901s by the end of 2021? Well, we just need to wait and see.
