Only one race remaining in Asia: the Malaysia GP, which will take place in Sepang from October 22 to 24. It’s three weeks after the Americas GP and two weeks before the Algarve GP, so it’s a long trip to Asia at a time when it doesn’t seem to make much sense considering the calendar’s structure.
Because the Thai GP is expected to be replaced with a European event or perhaps a doubling of Austin’s travel, Sepang may be at risk because it is the only race on the Asian continent. In addition, the world press has recently reported that without Thailand, Malaysia could potentially fall due to economic impossibility.
The same cannot be said for the GP of the Americas, the only planned Atlantic crossing. However, in the case of the United States of America, it is not unprecedented to be isolated in the calendar in terms of travel to the American continents.
Malaysia has been showing an increasing trend of new cases and fatalities in the pandemic situation. Entry restrictions are strong. Citizens of Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom, for example, are not permitted to enter unless they have a Malaysian residence. Quarantines of 14 days are required for all travellers.
