Honda Japan launches the much-awaited Honda CBR600RR super sports bike for Japan today.  The Honda CBR600RR for Japan would go on sale next month, 25th September 2020 through Honda Dream locations across Japan. The Honda CBR600RR comes with a 599cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke DOHC inline four-cylinder engine. Aside from this, the newly-developed CBR600RR also packs an array of impressive electric and aerodynamic package.

As a Super Sports model, Honda says to cater as a high potential model for daily use, the bike was developed with the size in mind. Aside from this, with the previous model in mind, the development team further refined the handling to provide agile handling on-track and public roads.

The All-new Honda CBR600RR

In the case of the engine, the inline-4 engine pushes 119hp / 89 kW @ 14,000 rpm and  64Nm @11,500 rpm. To attain this maximum power output, Honda changed the material used for key engine components such as the camshaft and crankshaft. Aside from this, Honda says they managed to squeeze out these impressive figures by reshaping the inlet port, enlarging the throttle bore diameter and optimizing the size of various other parts on the exhaust pipes and valve timing.

As for the design, the Honda CBR600RR is indeed a stunner. Aside from the aggressive looks, the design of the all-new 600RR in terms of performance and functionality provides an outstanding on-track performance. Honda says, optimization of projected front and lateral areas and the lowest drag coefficient in the class*1 contributed to the improvement of wind-resistant performance and the realization of agile handling. Furthermore, the downforce generated by the functional winglets increases stability when turning and accelerating.

As for the pricing, the 2020 Honda CBR600RR is priced at 1,460,000 yen /MYR 57,800 /USD 13,800 (without Taxes) in Japan. (Note: Only 1000 units are planned for sale in Japan). With the launch of the Honda CBR600RR, HRC also announces a more track-oriented version of the Honda CBR600RR. Remodelled from the roadgoing Honda CBR600RR, the track-oriented CBR600RR loses all the unnecessary safety parts and gets kitted with HRC parts such as: ECU, harness, front and rear suspension, front brake calliper and thick discs. Unlike the Honda CBR600RR, HRC’s CBR600RR-R (Race-based) is made for track and cannot be ridden on public roads. The price of this bike is not announced yet, so we just need to wait until Honda officially launches the bike next year in January 2021.
