Rumour – Honda Vario 160 to be launched this year

The latest reports from Thailand points to the arrival of an updated Honda Vario model. The rumoured “Honda Vario 160” is expected to break cover later this year.

Honda pulled the cover off the updated 2021 Honda PCX 160 in Japan last year, December 2020. Just a month later, the updated Honda PCX 160 was introduced in Thailand. Honda replacing the PCX 150 with the PCX 160 led to the idea of other sub-150cc Honda model ranges getting a revamp as well.  The rumours started with the “ADV 160” and went all the way to “Winner X 160”. Well, the latest reports from Thailand suggests the arrival of an updated “Honda Vario 160” model which is expected to break cover later this year.

Honda Vario 160 Rumours

According to rumours, the “Honda Vario 160” would be powered by the same 157cc single-cylinder 4-valve eSP+ engine found on the new Honda PCX 160.  Well, the idea of a Honda Vario 160 isn’t exactly far off from reality. This is because the ongoing ADV 150 and Vario 150 models are built around PCX 150’s engine; so if Honda decides to update the Vario 150 in a market where the PCX 160 is already available, all they need to do is to just source the engine from the updated PCX 160.  With the engine update, sources speculate a bump in peak power output from 12.9 hp to 15hp.

Other than the engine update, the Vario 160 is rumoured to be spec’d fairly similar to the ongoing Vario 150. Meaning, unlike the PCX 160, the Vario 160 would not come with HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control) or ABS.
