Afyonkarahisar is still a relatively recent addition to the calendar. Only two Grand Prix in 2018 and 2019, with Thomas Covington, Jorge Prado, and Jeffrey Herlings winning on the Turkish circuit. Both events were huge successes, with the organizer receiving “Best Infrastructure” and “Best Paddock” in 2018 and 2019.

After a year with no events allowed to be held, Turkish fans will be compensated with two races in 2021. The first is scheduled for the 4th and 5th of September. The second, the Afyon MXGP will take place on the 7th and 8th of September. This race will be replacing the Swedish MXGP, which has been postponed until next year.
