Here is everything you need to know about the incoming Yamaha NVX V2!

2021 Yamaha NVX 155 VVA V2

The updated 2021 Yamaha Aerox 155 VVA Connected and NVX 155 VVA V2 were recently launched in Indonesia and Vietnam. Known as Yamaha NVX in Malaysia, the updated 2021 Yamaha NVX V2 is expected to break cover this year, 2021.

 The  Recent Spy Shots

In case you missed the buzz, the updated “NVX V2” was recently spotted testing in Malaysia. About a week ago, HLYM put up a launch teaser post for an unknown model. Earlier we speculated the model that’s due for launch is either the next-gen Y15ZR V3 or the next-gen NVX V2. If you missed our coverage on this, check it out here.

2021 Yamaha NVX V2 Specification [Speculated]

Speaking of the 2021 Yamaha NVX V2, judging from the spy shots, the model gets both design and mechanical updates. Starting with the design, the incoming Yamaha NVX V2 appears to get a facelift similar to the updated 2021 Yamaha Aerox Connected and 2021 Yamaha NVX from Indonesia and Vietnam.

Alongside the updated bodywork, the NVX V2 is expected to roll in with updated LED lighting all around as well. As we call it, the “next-gen” styling is a bit more sporty and modern compared to the current generation.

On the inside, we speculate the incoming NVX V2 to be very similar to the new Aerox and NVX from other markets as well. Having said that, we think the 2021 Yamaha NVX V2 would roll in with an updated instrument panel, Yamaha Y-Connect, Smart Key, Stop & Start System (SSS) and USB charging port.

Aside from this, upgrades including a larger 5.5-litre fuel tank, larger 25-litre storage space and a more comfortable two-layer saddle would more likely be carried over as well.

Mechanical updates

In the case of brakes, the model is expected to get a hydraulic disc brake up front and a drum brake at the rear with single-channel ABS.

As for the suspension, similar to the 2021 Yamaha NVX from Vietnam, we speculate the upcoming NVX V2 to feature a telescopic front fork and a set of new twin remote reservoir shock absorbers at the rear.

Moving on to the tyres and wheels, the incoming model is expected to get a set of sporty 14-inch alloy wheels with a 110/80 front tyre and a chunkier 140/70 rear tyre.

In the case of the engine, the model would be powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder (4 valves, SOHC) engine with Yamaha’s VVA and Blue Core technology. Mated to a CVT, the NVX V2’s engine output figures would be very close to its brothers from Indonesia and Vietnam which put out 15.4 PS / 15.18hp @  8000 rpm and a peak torque of 13.9 Nm @ 6,500 rpm.

Expected Launch Date

As mentioned earlier, HLYM recently put up a teaser post for an upcoming model. We speculated the teaser post was for either the Y15ZR V3 or the NVX V2.  However, the theme of the “teaser” hinted to us that it’s most likely the NVX V2 that’s next in line. Speaking of the launch, we think HLYM would pull the cover off the Yamaha NVX V2 in the upcoming months. To be exact, in 1 to 2 months but with the ongoing CMCO and RMCO, we really can’t be firm.

UPDATE: Latest teaser post points to the arrival of the next-gen Yamaha Y15ZR. The model is expected to break cover on 18th March 2021.
