Triumph’s revelation of the new Trident 660 late last year was a stepping stone for more middleweight triple-cylinder bikes from the brand. The Trident garnered an overall positive review and the Roadster series saw the same 650cc triple-cylinder mill as well. The mid-capacity adventure-sport segment became popular with the likes of the Kawasaki Versys 650 and Honda NC750SX. This time, Triumph aims to step up its game.

With Triumph’s latest model being in the centre of attention, fans are speculating that the new model is just about to launch. The recent “spy” shots of the final prototype of the Tiger Sport 660 have gone viral.

The Tiger Sport 660 will feature the same 650cc three-cylinder liquid-cooled 12-valve DOHC motor from the Trident. It is capable of producing 72.05 hp at 10,200 rpm with a peak torque of 42.85 pound-feet at 6,660 rpm. The new model’s positioning shows that the engine will receive a sportier upgrade and the numbers will reflect its variants.

The new model shows hints of Trident’s chassis and powertrain. However, the prototype comes with its own bodywork with a taller fuel tank. This is like to cater for the increase in capacity. The bike also has a tall touring shied upfront. The dual Nissin brake callipers are upfront and the exhaust is down low. The Showa forks are inverted and look the same as the Trident. Not to mention, the new Tiger 660 Sport will be offering similar electronic rider aids such as traction control, two riding modes, and ABS.

It is likely that the Tiger Sport 660 will carry a price tag slightly premium over the Trident. The Trident is currently priced at $8,195. There is no confirmation as to the launch date but we are guessing that it is close. Stay tuned to find out!
