Kawasaki to launch new KLX230 Supermoto In Japan

Kawasaki will be introducing a supermoto variant of their KLX230 this coming October at JPY556,700 (RM17.7k).

Kawasaki will launch the Supermoto version of the KLX230 in the Japanese market and will be known as the KLX230SM.

According to Kawasaki, the KLX230SM is a Supermoto version inspired by the KLX230. It shares the same components as the KLX230, but this Kawasaki KLX230SM comes with 17-inch front and rear rims.

For the record, this KLX230SM is still powered by a single-cylinder engine with air cooling that is capable of producing 19hp at 7,600rpm and 18.5Nm at 6,100rpm.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed transmission. Interestingly, Kawasaki claims this KLX230SM offers the best fuel economy with 33.4km per litre.

As a machine for road use, the KL230SM is equipped with a brand new 37mm ‘inverted’ fork that offers 204mm of travel.

The rear part is equipped with an adjustable suspension (preload).

This KLX230SM will be available in Japan on October 15 at a price of JPY556,700 (RM17.7k).
