The SIC Racing line-up heads to India for the first Asian round of the 2023 World Motorcycle Championship with Danial Syahmi appearing in the Moto3 category on a wildcard ticket.

The 13th round will take place at the Buddh International Circuit. This is the first time that India will be hosting the World Motorcycle Championship. This circuit measures 4.96km with 8 right turns, and 5 left turns.

Syarifuddin Azman, better known as Damok, and Danial are eager to set foot on the track to learn more about the circuit.

Damok arrived in India with a total of 5 points and will be hoping to provide a strong competition at the India GP after racing in Catalunya two weeks ago.

“The race in Catalunya didn’t go as I had hoped. I want to give my best this week, and I can’t wait to race in India. This is a new track for all the riders. There are certainly many things that both I and the team need to understand and learn. It won’t be easy, but I will continue to work hard and push from the beginning. I will strive to be competitive and earn points in the race. Don’t forget to watch the race this week at the Indian GP where Danial and I will race,” says Damok.

As for Danial, this is Danial’s second time competing in the Moto3 category this season on a wildcard ticket.

The first time was last June, replacing Damok at the GermanGP. Danial will represent the PETRONAS MIE Racing Vision Track Racing team and will appear alongside a rider from Chennai, India, Kadai Yaseen Ahamed, who is also racing on a wildcard ticket.

“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to race in India as a wildcard. This is the second time I’ve raced in the World Championship, after replacing Damok at the German GP. Most importantly, I’ll be riding a Honda.

I have two years of experience with Honda, so it will be easier for me to understand and adapt to the bike. I will work together with the new crew chief and the new team. So, I will learn as quickly as possible to give my 100% on the track, and I will give even more effort than before to be among the top riders,” Damok states.

The 13th round will be taking place commencing 22 to 24 September 2023.
