American electric manufacturer Alta Motors halts operations

Being a small volume company, it’s always more difficult to maintain the business going as planned initially, and more so in the electric motorcycle business. American brand Alta Motors has been going great until now, and this year they’ve already reached the total sales of more than 1000 electric motorcycles, and have a backorder of another 300 units.

Unfortunately, Alta Motors had to halt its operations according to a report from Asphalt and Rubber.

The decision was made so Alta Motors could stay afloat while at the same time looking for new investors, since the deal with Harley-Davidson went down, with the iconic American brand deciding to pursue its own electric project, which we know as LiveWire.

Electric dirtbikes seem to be on a high right now, and Alta Motors is considered to be on the leading edge of this segment. The California based brand is now seeking someone to invest in the development of new models, and rumors say that they’ve already got some offers, some of them even to buy the whole company.

Let’s hope these electric dirtbikes don’t disappear, and Alta Motors can find the money they need to keep their eco-friendly business open.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
