Royal Enfield enthusiasts have reason to rejoice as the iconic motorcycle manufacturer’s 650 platform is gearing up for further expansion. Recently, spy shots courtesy of Rushlane captured two upcoming models during pre-production testing in India. This hints at the arrival of the Classic 650 and Scram 650. The 650 platform already boasts popular models like the Super Meteor 650, Shotgun 650, Continental GT 650, and Interceptor 650, and these new additions are set to bring more diversity to the lineup.
Based on the Super Meteor 650, the Classic 650 follows the successful formula of its predecessor, the Classic 350 based on the Meteor 350. The spy shots reveal a timeless retro-styled cruiser, equipped with a conventional front fork and an analogue instrument cluster. This suggests a nod to classic design elements while maintaining the 650 platform’s performance and reliability.
Surprisingly, the Scram 650 breaks the naming convention. The Scram 411 from 2022 was Himalayan-based, but the Scram 650 seems built on the Interceptor, highlighting Royal Enfield’s commitment to innovation. It’s set to be a scrambler with a semi-off-road setup, knobby tires, and increased ground clearance.
The Classic 650 and Scram 650 use Royal Enfield’s 648cc parallel twin-cylinder engine, producing 46bhp and 39 lb-ft of torque.
They cater to different rider preferences: Classic 650 has a traditional setup with a conventional front fork and analogue cluster, while the Scram 650 boasts an upside-down fork, tripper instrumentation, and a semi-off-road configuration.
Currently, Royal Enfield hasn’t revealed launch dates, availability, or pricing for the Classic 650 and Scram 650. Expect competitive pricing based on existing models like the Super Meteor 650 (£6,799) and Interceptor 650 (£6,399).
The 650 platform’s expansion shows Royal Enfield’s commitment to diverse motorcycles for different rider preferences. Fans are eagerly awaiting official announcements as spy shots generate excitement, anticipating the arrival of these new models soon.
