PETALING JAYA, 03 MAY 2017 – The highly-awaited 2017 Triumph Motorcycles’ range has reached Malaysian shores, starting with the Triumph Bonneville Bobber leading the pack, followed by the exciting new Street Scrambler, T100/T100 Black variants, and the performance-inspired top-of-the-line and all-new Street Triple RS.

Fast Bikes Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s Exclusive Official Distributor of Triumph Motorcycles, are instrumental in introducing the new exciting new models following their global launch late last year.

BONNEVILLE BOBBER

Headlining this year’s Triumph Motorcycles’ modern classic range is the much-talked about Triumph Bonneville Bobber which is a completely new model style for the British motorcycle manufacturer.

Triumph Motorcycles may have had cruisers and customs in the range for many years, but none have boasted the single-minded design of the new Bobber.

The new Bobber perfectly expresses the minimalistic styling principles, muscular stance and focussed engineering attitude of a genuine Bobber. With clean lines and a low stance, single seat, wide flat bars, minimal bodywork and headlight, sculpted tank, wire spoked wheels, with wide rear wheel and that all important hard tail look.

An innovative and elegantly engineered adjustable seat and clock position suit the rider and riding style. The stunning ‘swing cage’ hard tail set-up and hidden mono-shock suspension make the bobber as dynamic and thrilling to ride as it is to look at.

Bobbers have always been about light weight and more power, so it’s 1,200cc High Torque engine with electronic updates and a new dual airbox/filter design enables it to produce more torque and power down low, when compared to the T120.

Other noteworthy updates to the single rider only motorcycle includes a shock that is mounted underneath the seat and works on a specially designed linkage, plus an updated fork that is shorter than the T120. Like the rest of the bikes in Triumph Bonneville line-up, it will come with everything from riding modes (Road and Rain) to switchable traction control, ABS, and a torque-assist clutch.

“Perhaps the best part is that the new Bobber has been designed with customizing in mind, and that there are over 150 accessories available for more style, comfort, and performance,” said Fast Bikes Sdn Bhd’s Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Razak Al-Malique Hussain.

Razak Al-Malique explained that the new Bobber is well thought-out and the wire-spoked wheels with a narrow front and wide rear fits the bobber persona.

“It has that custom look, and yet it is still about riding a Triumph motorcycle, with emphasis on handling and a special look,” he said.

Colour options include Ironstone (with a matte finish), Morello Red, Stunning Competition Green and Frozen Silver, and Jet Black. Prices start from RM74,900 to RM75,900 (prices quoted are including 6% GST but without on-the-road costs).

STREET SCRAMBLER

For today’s scrambler-style enthusiasts, Triumph’s latest Street Scrambler, has also created some excitement during its launch.

Built around the Triumph Street Twin’s new-generation 900cc High Torque liquid-cooled parallel twin, the chassis was designed specifically for the Street Scrambler, placing the footpegs in an optimum position for off-road riding and enabling the fitment of longer rear shocks. The front forks and rear shocks are model-specific, and the ride height has been increased.

The Street Scrambler rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels, shod with Metzeler Tourance dual-sport tires. The standard ABS and traction control are switchable for off-road use. A flat solo bench seat and aluminum rear rack are standard, with a passenger seat included that can be swapped for the rack. Passenger footpegs and hangers are also removable. Grippy off-road footpegs, rubber knee pads and a skid plate are all included.

The instrument cluster is comprised of a dual-clock display incorporating speed, engine rpm, gear position, odometer and tripmeter, fuel range, fuel level, fuel consumption data, a clock and traction control settings.

“Following the trends and demands of today’s riders, the Street Scrambler was designed to be ready for customization, and Triumph Motorcycles will offer more than 150 accessories for the Street Scrambler that will accentuate its off-road character and everyday usability,” said Razak Al-Malique.

Colour options include Jet Black, Matte Khaki Green and Korosi Red, and Frozen Silver. Prices start from RM65,900 to RM67,900 (prices quoted are including 6% GST but without on-the-road costs), depending on colour scheme.

BONNEVILLE T100/T100 BLACK

For those with a more purist classic soul, the new Triumph Bonneville T100/T100 Black combine the lightness of the Street Twin with the classic styling of the T120.

Powering the new T100/T100 Black is the liquid-cooled, eight-valve, 270-degree crank, 900cc High Torque parallel twin powerplant.

Similar to the T120, styling for the new T100/T100 Black is inspired by the iconic 1959 Bonneville, with a classically sculpted tank, a detailed engine plate, twin gauges and spoked wheels.

The new T100s also features brushed aluminum covers, bolt-on Triumph badges unique to these two models and a generous helping of chrome on the mirrors, fender stays, handlebars and headlight bezel. Rounding out the profile is a comfort seat finished in contrast piping with deeper foam for more comfort.

The new T100/T100 Black blends classic details, like twin analogue gauges, with modern features, like dual multi-function LCD screens.

The T100 Black, on the other hand, sports blacked-out engine covers, peashooter exhausts and wheel rims, and it is available with either gloss Jet Black or Matte Black bodywork. It has blacked-out components and bodywork painted in Matte Black or gloss Jet Black.

Razak Al-Malique said as with the T120s, the T100 and T100 Black may be retro styled but they are thoroughly modern motorcycles.

The new T100 comes in three classically inspired paint schemes: Aegean Blue and Fusion White with hand painted coach lines, Intense Orange and New England White with hand painted coach lines, as well as Jet Black.

Pricing for the new T100/T100 Black are from RM63,900 to RM65,900 (prices quoted are including 6% GST but without on-the-road costs), depending on colour scheme.

STREET TRIPLE RS

On the performance front, the Street Triple RS is now available.

The Street Triple RS is the flagship of Triumph Motorcycle’s new third-generation Street Triple line-up, which includes the lower-spec ‘S’ and ‘R’ variants. The two other Street Triple variants will follow at a later date in Malaysia.

For the RS variant, more power, performance and torque, and an even richer soundtrack is offered by the all-new 765cc engine derived from the celebrated Triumph Daytona.

The RS, being the top of the new Street Triple range, comes with to 16% more power from its predecessor, offering 121bhp of peak power at 11,700rpm. It also comes with the highest ever level of suspension, brakes and tyres, aggressive new looks and class leading weight – the Street Triple RS will definitely set a whole new benchmark.

The RS comes with ride-by-wire (RbW) motor featuring over 80 new parts, a bump of about 90cc and is now 765cc. This results in an increase in power and torque, but nothing unmanageable.

The Street Triple RS comes with a quickshifter, while the slipper clutch cuts in to allow for controlled slides during hard downshifting.

In the limelight is the all-new 5.0-inch TFT screen that is customizable and informative. This TFT instrument cluster will also be seen on the R models of the Street Triple.

However, Razak Al-Malique said the highlight of the RS model is its electronics package with highly extensive and customizable electronics suite gets five riding modes.

“Road, Rain, Sport, Track and a programmable Rider mode are the available modes which get different throttle maps and varying levels of traction control. Even the amount of ABS intervention can be tuned. So, it will cater to a wide range of riders with varying levels of skill and confidence,” he said.

On the chassis front, it retains the main frame of the older model, but gets a new stiffer gullwing swingarm, a new Ohlins rear shock and top-of-the-line Showa Big Piston Forks. The Street Triple RS also gets ABS-assisted Brembo Monobloc M50 brakes with the brake lever that also offer adjustability.

The Street Triple RS is currently available for viewing at Fast Bikes Sdn Bhd’s Triumph Motorcycles flagship store in Petaling Jaya.

At present, the roadster is priced at RM66,900 (including 6% GST, but excluding on-the-road costs). It comes in only in the Matt Silver Ice and Phantom Black colour schemes.
