Suzuki applies a new patent for the mighty Hayabusa

From time to time we all get excited by the possible launch of a new generation of the mighty GSX-R1300 Hayabusa, one of the most powerful hipersport motorcycles in the world. But Suzuki hasn’t shown much interest in reviving the Hayabusa name… until now!

According to a new patent file recently applied by Suzuki, the Japanese manufacturer is trying to get the rights to use the traditional Hayabusa logo on all sorts of merchandise.

Suzuki, of course, already owns the rights to use that same logo on cars, motorcycles, all terrain vehicles and all sorts of parts and fittings for said vehicles, but nothing in that patent gives Suzuki the right to apply the logo on merchandise like hats, clothes and other stuff.

Now, a new patent was submitted by Suzuki and if accepted, as it will probably will be, the Hamamatsu factory will be able to produce a new merchandise range to combine with the Hayabusa.

But why apply for such a patent if the Hayabusa isn’t produced anymore because of homologation rules?

Well, the European legislation might have something to do with that. As it seems, the powerful Hayabusa won’t be sold in European dealerships starting January 2019, because of homologation rules, but Suzuki hasn’t given up on this hipersport bike, and rumours point to the fact that soon we will see a new generation of the Hayabusa.

How soon is that we don’t know, but the fact that Suzuki wants to create merchandise with the Hayabusa logo on it gives credit to those rumours.

As always, iMotorbike will be paying a great deal of attention to the possibility of the arrival of a new Hayabusa, and as soon as we get more info on this subject, we will give you all the news!
