Five-times Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes-AMG, is a known motorcyclist, and through the years the British racer hasn’t hide is passion for race bikes and take them out to the track.
After being crowned the 2018 Formula1 champion, Hamilton travelled to Jerez, Spain, where he had what might be considered a once in a lifetime opportunity. The PATA Yamaha factory World Superbike team was as the Spanish track to test their YZF-R1 race bike, and they’ve invited Hamilton to do some laps with their bike.
Hamilton accepted the invitation and spent a full day riding the R1 race bike, having PATA Yamaha rider Alex Lowes as his private instructor.
The day went well, and even if Lewis Hamilton is used to drive a car with four wheels in contact with the asphalt, information on lap times for the #44 rider point to Hamilton being pretty fast around the Spanish track.
But not everything went well…
On one of his outings, Hamilton suffered a crash, nothing serious and he didn’t even suffer any injury, and soon after he returned to the track with his bike repaired by the PATA Yamaha team.
For those of you that don’t really know how Lewis Hamilton is passionate about motorcycles, we have to remember that in 2017, MV Agusta chose Hamilton to be their brand ambassador and earlier this year the Italian brand revealed the stunning and exotic MV Agusta F4 LH44, a limited edition of the F4 superbike built according to Lewis Hamilton specs.
