Ducati 2020 Launch Malaysia
Official distributor of Ducati in Malaysia, Next Bike Sdn Bhd, launches three new models to the 2020 product line-up. During the “Ducati Trio” even today, Next Bike launched the Ducati Panigale V4, Ducati Panigale V2 and Scrambler Icon Dark models. Being the most anticipated models for 2020, this is a piece of good news for the Ducati enthusiasts in Malaysia.
The Panigale range has been one of the best selling sports bikes since 2018 with more than 8000 units sold worldwide. For 2020, Ducati has made a series of refinements on the Panigale V4 platform to make the ride more user friendly, fast and comfortable to ride. Ducati says Ducat engineers have analyzed and made improvements on the bike from the feedback and data received by the customers and SuperBike World Championship events. The changes include improvement in the chassis, electronics & mapping and aerodynamics to ensure enhanced handling and throttle control.
To begin with, the Panigale V4 and V4s models now come with V4 R derived components such as aerofoils, screen, nose fairing and lateral fairings with side vents for the radiator. This V4 R derived aero pack provides better airflow which in turn improves the stability of the bike and ensures confidence.
Ducati says the front frame of the Panigale V4 and Panigale V4 S are now designed and built with Ducati Corse specifications. Because of this, the stiffness is enhanced and the weight is further reduced. Aside from this, the greater flexibility provides less stress on the tyre which improves front-end feel when going through corners at maximum lean angles.
Aside from this, the light magnesium front subframe and shell-cast aluminium seat subframe complete the chassis.
In the case of the electronics, Ducati says the new “predictive” control strategy with the Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2 improve the power control. Other than this, Ducati Quick Shift up/down (DQS) EVO 2 with shorter up-shift times provides a sportier high-rev gear shift. Thanks to the boosting shift stability it provides an aggressive acceleration and cornering ability.
Furthermore, the Ride by wire system offers several different torque delivery control logics to go hand in hand. As for the engine, the Panigale V4 and V4 S are powered by a 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine. This engine pushes 214 hp @ 13,000 rpm and 25.49 Nm of peak torque @ 10,000 rpm.
Just as the other MotoGP techs, the engine boasts MotoGP derived 90° V4 with Desmodromic timing with counter-rotating crankshaft and Twin pulse firing order.
As for the suspension, the 2020 Panigale V4S comes with Öhlins NIX-30 fork and Öhlins TTX36 shocks at the rear. Aside from this, the V4S comes with Öhlins event-based steering damper, Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 system and an all-new OBTi (Objective Based Tuning Interface).
As for the price, the Ducati Panigale V4 in Malaysia is priced at RM132,900, while the Panigale V4 S is priced at RM172,000.
For 2020, the twin-cylinder Panigale rolls in with a new design, sophisticated electronics, a more comfortable rider seat and suspension set-up. This enhances safety and performance, making the ride more enjoyable and user-friendly.
To start off with the design, the new fairing with the compact Superquadro twin-cylinder engine makes the Panigale V2 look more compressed. Aside from this, another key design feature is the single-sided swingarm and the new compact under-engine silencer. The traditional Ducati Red livery and black wheels further enhance the clean lines of the bike. In the case of the engine, the Euro 5 compliant 955cc Superquadro engine pushes out 155 hp @ 10,750 rpm and a peak torque of 104 Nm @ 9,000 rpm; which is 5 hp and 2Nm more from the previous generation. Note: For this engine, valve play checks are scheduled every 24,000 km and services every 12,000 km or 12 months.
As for the brakes, the M4.32 Brembo monoblock callipers with 320mm discs at the front and a single Brembo calliper with 245 mm disc take care of braking.
In the case of the electronics, the Panigale V2 features ABS Bosh cornering EVO, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Ducati Quick Shift Up/Down (DQS) EVO and Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO.
Aside from this, the Panigale V2 comes with three riding modes; Race, Sport and Street which can be selected through the 4.3″ colour TFT dashboard.
The new electronics package (based on the 6-axis inertial platform) raises active safety and dynamic control standards by adding the cornering function to the ABS, upgrading the quick-shift so it now covers down-changes and including traction control, engine brake control and wheelie control.

The aim of the new Scrambler Icon dark is to provide the freedom of customisation and personalisation to the riders.
The Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark features an all-new headlight with DRL and a flat seat which catches the eye. Aside from this, the new suspension, ergonomic switchgear and hydraulic clutch with adjustable lever ensures comfort for any journey. Furthermore, the gear indicator and fuel gauge ensure a hassle and stress-free ride.
In the case of the engine, powered by an 803cc Desmodromic L-Twin engine, the Scrambler Icon Dark pushes 73 hp @ 8,250 rpm which ensures a fun ride.
DMC (Ducati Multimedia System) on the Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark allows the rider to integrate the bike with smartphones, Ducati navigation system and helmet earpieces via Bluetooth. The DMC allows four devices to be connected to the infotainment system simultaneously. Featuring dual-channel BOSH cornering ABS provides, the Icon Dark is nothing short in the safety department.
Scrambler Icon Dark comes in a new Matt Black colour scheme with machine-finished aluminium belt covers and interchangeable aluminium side panels. The Scrambler Icon Dark is indeed a stunning looking bike with unlimited potential for customisation.
