Honda ADV 160 is on the way with 4-valve 157cc engine & HSTC?

According to the latest rumours, the next-gen “Honda ADV 160” would most likely feature a large 157cc eSP+ 4-valve engine and HSTC.

With the Honda PCX 160 slowly replacing the Honda ADV 150 in Japan and Thailand, latest rumours suggest Honda would soon do the same trick with the Honda ADV 150. According to sources, a newer “Honda ADV 160” model would replace the ongoing ADV150 around next year, 2022. Well, it does make sense because Honda’s dual-sport ADV scooter range is based on the roadgoing PCX. Given Honda is currently busy at work updating the PCX 150 range in certain markets, we think the chances of the ADV 150 getting the same treatment is a high possibility.

The Updates

According to sources, the rumoured “ADV 160” would only be launched by 2022 as Honda has already updated the ongoing ADV 150 for 2021 in most of the markets.  Sources suggest although the model would get minor aesthetic updates,  the overall appearance of the upcoming model would remain very similar to the ongoing model. Underneath, the model would also get an updated chassis just like the recently launched PCX 160.

Besides this, the new model would make use of the latest 157cc eSP+ 4 valve engine found on the PCX 160. Compared to the current 2 valve 149cc eSP+ engine, the newer 157cc (156.93cc) mill with bore and stroke size of 60.0 x 55.5 mm would allow the ” ADV 160″ to produce a maximum of around 15.8 hp @ 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 15 Nm @ 6,500rpm. Other than this, reports claim the model would also receive Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) as standard like the new PCX 160.

In the case of suspension and braking, the Showa suspension and ABS disc brake set up would most likely be carried forward from the ongoing model.

Launch Details

All these details are just speculations at this point.  However, as mentioned earlier if Honda decides to update the ADV 150, it wouldn’t happen anytime around this year. Also, just like what Honda did with the PCX 160, the updated ADV would most likely be introduced in countries like Japan and Thailand before other markets.

Honda ADV 150 is now open for pre-booking in Malaysia!

In the case of Malaysia, the Honda ADV 150 is expected to break cover around the first quarter of this year 2021. So the chances of the model getting an update in Malaysia just within a year from the initial launch doesn’t actually sound realistic.
