BMW Motorrad first revealed the BMW Motorrad Concept Link in 2017. Following this, BMW Motorrad showcased the Definition CE 04 Electric Scooter Concept at Nextgen 2020 with the aim to transform the vision from 2017 to “production readiness”.

Well, we think BMW Motorrad is just on track because the BMW CE 04 electric scooter has just been spotted testing!

The latest spy shots

The CE 04 prototype caught on camera is very similar to the Definition CE 04 concept from months ago. Speaking of the bike, the CE 04 follows clear lines from the ground up which gives it a subtle yet muscular look. Taking a closer look at the instrument panel, the new TFT instrument panel appears to get inspiration from the CE 04 Concept.

Features like the mirrors, reflectors, brake lights, turn signals and number plate holders are new. These modifications have been done to make the electric scooter road legal and we think it would be carried forward to the production model as well.

Rider aids such as wireless phone charging, keyless and navigation are also rumoured to make it into the production CE 04 electric scooter. Although BMW Motorrad hasn’t announced the details of the powertrain, sources speculate the  CE 04 to be powered by a mid-range electric motor with a belt-driven system as seen on the spy shots.

In the case of the launch, we think the CE 04 would officially break cover by this year or by Q1 of 2022. Details specified here are based on rumours and speculations, we just have to wait for BMW Motorrad to officially pull the cover off the bike to know more.
