2021 Yamaha NMAX Connected

The Yamaha NMAX 155 Connected was first launched in Indonesia last year. Following this, the NMAX 155 Connected made its move to the Philippines market just last week. With the introduction of the model in Thailand earlier today, Thailand is officially now the third market in the ASEAN region to get the high-end NMAX Connected variant. The Yamaha NMAX 155 Connected is very similar to the “standard” Malaysia-spec 2021 Yamaha NMAX 155 from the outside.  However, being a high-end model, there are a few things that make the Yamaha NMAX 155 Connected stands out from the standard Malaysian market model.

Speaking of the Yamaha NMAX 155 Connected, similar to the standard NMAX 155 that’s currently offered in Malaysia, the Thai /Indonesia-specific 2021 Yamaha NMAX 155 Connected is powered by a 155cc water-cooled 4 valve Blue Core engine with Yamaha’s VVA technology. Power is transmitted to the rear via a CVT and belt final drive.

Built around a backbone frame, the 2021 NMAX 155 Connected sits on a set of 13-inch rims with a 110/70 front tyre and a 130/70 rear tyre. Suspension duties are taken care of by a telescopic front fork and a unit swing set up at the rear. Meanwhile, braking is done via hydraulic disc brakes at the front and rear.

When it comes down to electronics and rider aids, the 2021 NMAX 155 Connected gets; (SSS) Stop and Start System, LCD instrument panel; full LED lighting and a 12 V charging socket just like the standard updated 2021 Yamaha NMAX 155 from Malaysia.

However, the Yamaha NMAX 155 Connected from Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines get an array of additional features which is not found on the standard NMAX 155 which is offered in Malaysia. These include two-channel ABS, Y-Connect system, Smart key and Traction control.

So when can we expect the Yamaha NMAX 155 Connected to arrive in Malaysia?

Well, given the updated 2021 Yamaha NMAX 155 [standard] was just launched a few months back in Malaysia, we think it would take a while for the Connected variant to arrive in Malaysia. The Yamaha NMAX 155 Connected is now available in neighbouring countries like Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia. This means we can surely expect HLYM to update the NMAX 155 catalogue in the near future. In case you missed the buzz, the Yamaha NVX 155 Connected was recently spotted testing in Malaysia, so there is a chance the NMAX 155 Connected could follow the NVX 155 Connected.  We can only speculate, for now, only time will reveal what HLYM actually has in store for us.
