In the last month, Maverick Viñales has experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. The problem began with a controversy at the StyrianGP that led to suspension followed by split from Monster Energy Yamaha. He subsequently signed with Aprilia and saw the team give him the chance to return to MotoGP activity this weekend at the Aragon GP.

This period and the opportunity to leave Yamaha to go to Aprilia were a release for the Spaniard, as he confided: ‘ I think that more than difficult it was a release for me because I needed to do something different. I was in a moment of blocking, I needed to move on and improve. That was the occasion and the opportunity, and as soon as I took the test I wanted to compete.  I felt good on the bike and I adapted very quickly .’ For Viñales, it also made perfect sense to go back to the competition and not stay at home: ‘ I also felt that it is during the competition weekend that you can improve, so there was no reason to stay at home. It was important to get experience and work hard in these races to get used to the bike quickly .’
