The Ducati Lenono Team will be back on track this weekend for the Grand Prix of San Marino at the Riviera di Rimini. The team will be having a tough time navigating the 12th round of this season at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli with the absence of Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini as the aces were involved in two bad accidents.
Carrying a much different vibe for their home race, the Borgo Panigale squad will be defending the team in Misano with Bagnaia alone.
The dramatic Catalan Grand Prix last week saw both riders suffering injuries of varying degrees. Bagnaia had his legs run over by another rider after a violent impact from the asphalt after a nasty highside. The Italian had several bruises but no fractures despite the fall. However, he would still need the doctors’ approval to race his home Grand Prix in Misano this weekend.
“On Sunday night, I went back home with the team. After getting some rest, I immediately started preparing to be ready to return to the track in Misano.
The San Marino GP is always a special event for us Italian riders and especially for us Ducati riders. I will do my best to be able to race on Saturday and Sunday.”
On the other hand, Bastianini suffered a fracture in both his left hand and left ankle due to multiple crashes. After undergoing surgery on Monday night, it is only safe that La Bestia taps out from his home race and the next two Grands Prix.
