This triumph adds to the latest accolades of Maleeq, whose full name is Wan Ayden Maleeq Wan Mohd Muzri, following his historic feat as the first Malaysian to bring home the RCS Japan trophy in the 12th season last November.

The President of The M8 Cycling Club, Datuk Seri Wan Mohd Muzri Ramli, who is also Maleeq’s father, expressed the significance of this victory for the ‘pushbike’ community, which consistently provides unwavering support to the lineup of cyclists.

“This race was particularly challenging because it wasn’t just about the competition between riders, but also coping with rainy weather on both days of the competition. With the rain, the temperature dropped, and Maleeq raced in chilly conditions. Maintaining the championship was both thrilling and worrisome for us as parents. Congratulations, and we are proud because this marks a stellar start for Maleeq in 2024.”

“Taking Malaysia’s name and the M8 team to higher levels is a tremendous responsibility. Without effort and sacrifice, we cannot achieve success. History repeats itself once again for Maleeq,” he said in a statement.

Maleeq’s success also garnered praise from RCS President, Yuuki Takahira, who acknowledged Malaysia’s ability to produce champions, besides receiving coverage from Japanese media outlets such as Tokyo Chinichi Sports and RCS Magazine.

RCS Japan stands as the premier championship in Asia, gathering ‘pushbike’ champions from around the world, including host nations like China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Malaysia.
