Gear up! Electric motorcycle maker Lightning Motorcycles is planning to challenge for world’s fastest production motorcycle record at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

The firm came into light in 2012 with a record of 218 mph at Bonneville, granting the brand’s RR model the title for world’s fastest production motorcycle. The bike was then renamed LS-218 in honor of its achievement. A year in 2013, the firm won the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. This year in 2017, the company is ready to break and create more records at the Bonneville Speed Week next week.

According to the firm, the new bike is called the LS-2??RR. The question marks will be replaced by the maximum speed numbers from the official time slip.

“Our rider, Jim Hoogerhyde, has an impressive resume of race wins and land speed records himself”, said Richard Hatfield, Lightning CEO, “but Bonneville Speed Week in August is lining up to be a special event. We look forward to working with Jim to replace the ?? with an exciting number for our LS-2??RR”.
