After a dominating victory from 2019 MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez at the Japanese Grand Prix, Honda has secured the Constructors’ Championship for a record 25th time. The team capped their home town race with a blazing victory when Marquez passed the chequered flag at Twin Ring Motegi.
Honda clinched the ultimate title with a total of 10 race wins, 17 podiums and 356 points. This is the 20th time the team has taken the Rider and Constructors Championships in the same year.

From the days of the iconic RC181 in 1966 to the modern-day RC213V, Honda has accumulated 307 wins in the premier class in the midst of taking a total of 25 premier class Constructors Championship titles. The 2019 title is the seventh for the RC213V and the 12th title for Honda in the modern four-stroke era. Prior to this, the NSR500 managed to amass 11 Constructors Championships, in between 1984 and 2001,
Jim Redman and Mike Hailwood were the two pioneering riders who helped Honda clinch their first premier-class Constructors Championship back in 1966. Since returning to Grand Prix racing in 1979, the team has won 58.5% of the Constructors Championships on offer.
To this date, Honda is the only manufacturer to win more than 16 premier class Constructors Championships. It is ahead of MV Agusta, which has claimed 16 and Yamaha earning a total of 14. This is Honda’s 70th Constructors Championship across all levels of Grand Prix racing. They are over 20 championships ahead of their closest rival.
